Unexplained Shopify Transactions Alarm Credit Card Users
People worldwide are seeing unexplained charges of $1 or $0 from Shopify-charge.com on their credit card statements, even though they did not make any purchases.
These mysterious charges have appeared on a variety of credit cards, both physical and virtual, from providers like Discover, Monzo, Capital One, and other Visa cards. Some users have even reported charges attempted on deactivated cards.
The issue began around July 21st and has affected an increasing number of people. A Monzo card user on Reddit shared, “Not sure if it was just me today but seems like I’ve got a shopify active card check today. Thankfully, no money was debited. Got in touch with support and they confirmed it was a scammer.”
Another person mentioned, “I just received an email from privacy.com notifying me of a decline. The declined payment was for $0.00 charge at SHOPIFY-CHARGE.COM I have not used this card outside of paying for my Wyze cam subscription.”
These charges have been reported across Reddit and Shopify forums. Concerningly, two individuals noted similar charges soon after creating new virtual cards at their banks.
The attempted charges indicate they are from Shopify-charge.com, accompanied by the phone number 866-938-2427 and sometimes the address 5715 Will Clayton Pkwy, Texas 77338, which appears to be nonexistent.
Shopify-charge.com is an actual website run by Shopify, which explains that the charge is related to a subscription fee or purchase at a Shopify store. However, many affected users claim never to have used their credit cards at Shopify, unaware that many stores use Shopify’s platform.

Shopify has recently experienced a third-party data breach at one of its vendors, sparking suspicions that the charges could be related, though no credit card information was exposed in that breach.
